Average price for Canadians remains around $1000-$1200 so here's a good opportunity to pick one up at a highly discounted rate. Even after shipping (about $60) and conversion, you're looking at around $800 which isn't bad in comparison.
If you're just getting into the DSLR game, it'll be hard to throw down $800 right away -- especially when your camera package probably didn't cost as much. When you start shooting, though, you'll likely feel the need to upgrade at some point or another to better glass and that's where Canon's L series lenses come in. They're of higher build quality and lens optics which are far superior to their non-L counterparts. Yes they're expensive but, if you're a serious shooter, they're much better and retain their value for a long time.
